Simulation Instrument Studio 1
One codebase for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Customers do not install .NET or Java. The published download is self-contained.
Programs
Simulation Instrument Studio and Simulation Panel are .NET 8 desktop apps. The window shell is Avalonia 11. Drawing is SkiaSharp. Lua is MoonSharp, one state per instrument. A panel is a layout of those instruments. Panel scales the finished picture. The instrument still draws at its own size.
Editor and debugger
Visual Studio Code is the editor. The Simulation Instruments extension supplies API completions. A Lua extension supplies syntax highlighting. F5 attaches the Debug Adapter Protocol to Studio on port 4711. A breakpoint pauses the instrument. Hover reads the Lua stack.
Simulator connection
X-Plane is reached through the Simulation Instruments plugin, installed in the X-Plane plugins folder. It answers on 127.0.0.1 port 4730. Datarefs include ints, floats, doubles, and arrays. Commands report begin, continue, and end.
Test Pilot is the built-in stand-in. It runs the instrument with no simulator process and no plugin.
Packages
An instrument is a folder with info.xml, logic.lua, resources/, and optional lib/. A .siff is that folder zipped. A premium .sisx ships bytecode and encrypted resources, signed, with no logic.lua.
What this is not
Not Java. Not a custom instrument editor. Hardware on ESP32 and Arduino Nano is next, and it is not in this version.
