The plugin
Simulation Instrument Studio 1
Studio and Panel talk to X-Plane through the Simulation Instruments plugin. The plugin does not draw instruments.
Where it goes
Quit X-Plane. Copy one file into X-Plane 12/Resources/plugins/sis/64/.
- Mac:
mac.xpl
- Windows:
win.xpl
- Linux:
lin.xpl
Start X-Plane. The connection light is green when the plugin answers on 127.0.0.1:4730. A panel on another computer talks to Studio or Panel, not to that port.
What it does
It reads and writes int, float, double, and int, float, and byte arrays. It fires commands and reports begin, continue, and end. Those calls are what xpl_dataref_subscribe, xpl_dataref_write, xpl_command, and xpl_command_subscribe use. xpl_connected is true only while that socket is up.
Microsoft Flight Simulator
A: variables and key events use SimConnect from Studio or Panel. L: variables, H: events, and calculator code need the Simulation Instruments WASM module in the Community folder. FSX and Prepar3D stay on SimConnect. They have no module.
What it is not
Not required for Test Pilot. Not the place instruments are drawn.
